traditions and chocolate

There was once a little girl who loved chocolate so much she couldn't live without it! When she was but a young teen she used to sneak very quietly into her mothers bedroom. In that bedroom beside her mothers bed was her bedside table and on this table lay extremely expensive chocolate that her mother would get sometimes  just for adults her mother would say. The little girl would take one careful bite and relish it in her mouth.
Later on as the girl became older she settled for munching on dark chocolate chip morsels everyday at her job. Her boss would tell her she would get fat but she never did. At this time in her life her family still did stockings and her mother would always get Godiva chocolate in her stocking and she would always get a special dark candy bar in hers.
Years later now a mother of her own, she needed a job. She decided to go to Godiva. Low and behold she got the job. It was just like being in the movie "Charlie and Chocolate Factory." She could taste all the different chocolates and she got a discount. She had also learned to spread the joy of loving chocolate as she learned it was good for the heart.  She was able to buy her whole family Godiva and everyone loved it!
Little did they know her preferences for chocolate got even more picky. She loved the dark chocolate raspberry truffles, the white chocolate raspberry stars, even the milk chocolate almond raindrop.  One day she decided her life was too much working at Godiva and she stopped. She never knew how much she would miss her specialty pieces of dark chocolate. To this day she still gives a little chocolate to everyone she loves.

They didn't see

Handicapped or not handicapped? That is the question. I firmly believe YES is the answer! From the moment he was born, people used to say he is normal. He just has a few issues. His family members that didn't live with him said, "Look at him. I don't see anything wrong with him." They didn't see "how" he answered questions and how he would just have a one-sided conversation. They didn't see his autism.
Later on in life after at least 7 surgeries people still said, "He just has issues. It's not like he's in a wheelchair!" They didn't see how he couldn't go out for the soccer team because his heart rate didn't register on the stethoscope at school. They didn't see under his shirt how his sternum was against his heart. They didn't see how he runs and covers his ears when a train or loud noise bothers him.
After the 7th surgery, I got a handicapped sticker from DMV. Here it is years later, and I still see people say, "He's not handicapped. That is just wrong." They don't see the spacial judgements he makes. They don't see how he tries to run in the house while being 6'1.
If DMV believes a person to be handicapped wether they are in a wheelchair or not, I agree with them. If you have had to have major support services throughout your life, for you to get where you are at, that seems to me like a valid reason for being handicapped. There is more to being handicapped than a person in a wheelchair or a person without limbs. Handicaps are sometimes hidden so next time don't be too quick to judge the unknown.

People and Birds

Thoughts just come to me at night! Do you ever wonder why people feel so attached to birds? After all, science tells us they have small brains. A bird comes near your window for weeks at a time. After a while you feel connected to the bird. Some people even think it may be a sign from up above.
After a month or so, the bird decides to take it a bit further and runs into the window and dies. You feel such a loss! You feel so bad that this relationship has ended. In reality, the bird probably has been attracted to some light off your window or a reflection of himself.
In the end, you learn never to have a relationship with something or someone who has a brain smaller than yours. Most of all, never give your whole heart to someone who has a small heart and cannot give back to you what your whole heart can give.

Poetry of the week

There once was a lady who lived at the beach,
She met a man that liked to teach,
He went out on a limb,
and asked her to marry him,
and now they both are happy as a peach.

Ornamental christmas

Family traditions, keeping stress free and having the christmas spirit I think are the key to a great christmas. I wasn't feeling the christmas spirit this year as we woulddn't be able to see any of my siblings. They live in different states and with the economy all of us decided to stay home. This in turn brought about a special holiday for my mom and I. We had never spent christmas focused on us before because we always had family visiting. We decided to spend a day shopping and ended up in Macy's. We are an ornament family and shopping for just that special ornament brings a special feeling of excitement within you. My best friend got pink ornaments for her pink tree. I love ornaments that 'fly' so christmas morning, my mom gave me a bird ornament which I love. I in turn gave my mom a Macy's bag ornament dated 2011 to remember that special shopping day just for us. My son also got a twilight ornament. Yes! we are a twilight family. He is tall like Edward and his best friends we call Bella(she has long brown hair) and Jacob(his last name which I won't mention says it all!) In this day and time when everyone is watching their pennies, ornaments can fill the soul.
